Program Overview

Kick‑start your career in the Electrical Industry through our Pre‑Apprenticeship Program in Electrical Construction and Maintenance, complemented by an introduction to refrigeration and air conditioning.

Qualified electricians are in high demand, driven by the transition to clean energy, a growing focus on energy efficiency, and a booming construction industry that relies on skilled trades professionals.

This tuition‑free program is funded by the Ontario Government and provides hands‑on skills training and support in securing a paid work placement with an employer. All course materials — including textbooks, safety equipment, and toolkits — are provided at no cost (administration and ancillary fees may apply).

Program includes:

  • Workplace communication skills and Math upgrading targeted to these trades
  • Industry-specific job readiness skills
  • Up to $1,600 in support is available for those who qualify. To be eligible for employment support, participants must meet attendance requirements for all courses, including employment prep, health and safety training.
  • Assistance to search for a paid work placement

Safety training, sought out by industry employers will also be provided:

  • First Aid
  • Working at Heights
  • WHMIS
  • Logout/Tagout Procedures
  • Personal Protection Equipment: Work Boots, Hard Hat and eye protection
  • Electrician tools are provided

Program Schedule

16 weeks of full-time, in-school training followed by up to 12 weeks on the job.

Work Placement:

In conjunction with formal training, the participant will have an opportunity for 8–12-week paid placement in the industry. This is facilitated by a dedicated job developer and input by the students.
