Donald Wang is a Professional Engineer and C.E.T. with over 30+ years of engineering experience. Donald holds an Engineering degree from the University of Toronto and a Fluid Power (Automation & Robotics) Technology Advanced Diploma from Centennial College. He has over 12 years of industrial automation experience in process engineering, project engineering, and engineering managerial positions. Over the past 25+ years, Donald has been working at various positions in Centennial College including as Professor, Program Coordinator, and Chair. Currently, Donald is the Chair of the Advanced Manufacturing & Automation Technology Department (AMAT) within the School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science (SETAS). He is responsible for programs including the Aerospace, Mechanical, Automation & Robotics (Mechatronics), and Electrical Engineering Technology programs. Donald is a firm believer in “Together We Are Stronger” and strives to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
Donald has been the recipient of awards including Ontario MCU for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award from the Honorable Minister Jill Dunlop in Jan, 2022, two President’s Spirit Awards For Teams in May, 2019, Learning-Centred College Awards in 2018 and 2017, President’s Spirit Award and the President’s Academic Program Recognition Award in Aug, 2016, the Teaching Excellence Awards (George Wicken Memorial and Board of Governors’ Awards) in 2002, and Board of Governors’ Award of Excellence in Aug, 1999. Donald has also successfully designed, built, installed, and commissioned equipment in automation/control systems. His specialties are in electrical/control systems, PLCs, HMI, motion controls, hydraulics & pneumatic systems, and automation/robotic work cells. Together with his team, he has a special interest in Industry 4.0 automation work cells, low carbon building skills/micro-grid systems, UAVs (drones) for commercial applications, aerospace/automotive Advanced Manufacturing Technology with Fluid Power, FEA, and Additive Manufacturing applications. Over the years, Donald has been a speaker at Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS) 2017, speaker at Mississauga Economic Development Workshop 2020, keynote speaker for Canadian Fluid Power Association (CFPA) AGM 2021, and other events.
