Justin is the president of First Composite Inc., a small firm specializing in GIPS Compliance, Composite construction, and Verification dedicated to small fund management firms. Additionally, he was a member of the CIPM Examination Council at the CFA Institute from 2007 to 2016 and has dealt with all aspects of GIPS and verification. He is considered a qualified person to create composites that comply with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) and perform Verification. He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of finance, 18 years of which were spent on performance evaluation, measurement, attribution, appraisal, and GIPS compliance. Justin was a teaching assistant for Economics at the University of Toronto while pursuing his graduate degree. He has been actively involved with the Toronto CFA Society working with the “Continuing Education” and “Communication” committees.
Justin graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and completed his graduate studies with a Master of Arts degree in Economics. Justin has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 1999 and holds a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) designation from the CFA Institute. He is a part of the first group of graduates to be awarded this designation in 2007. Additionally, he has completed numerous other financial courses from the Canadian Securities Institute including the Canadian Securities Course, Options Licensing Course and Derivative Fundamentals Course. He never stops learning. Since becoming a CFA, he consistently surpassed his continuing education requirements. Additionally, he likes to write and you can find his contributions to the Business school publications on a regular basis.
