Jason Burke began his healthcare career in 2009 as a Clerical Coordinator in the Pre-Admission unit at Mount Sinai Hospital. After a year-long temporary assignment, Jason recognized his passion for working in healthcare and his desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those seeking care. Over the next decade, he gained extensive administrative experience across several hospitals in Toronto, including Toronto Western Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, and Humber River Health. During his time as a Unit Clerk in Inpatient Psychiatry at Toronto General Hospital, Jason was inspired by the compassionate care and the strong relationships between patients and nurses, which motivated him to pursue a more direct role in patient care.
In 2018, Jason embarked on his nursing career as a Registered Practical Nurse at Toronto Rehab, part of the University Health Network. Since then, he has broadened his professional expertise by transitioning into education, first teaching Personal Support Worker students at Centennial College, and later acting as a clinical instructor for PSW students with the York Region District School Board. Jason has also had teaching assignments with George Brown College, Seneca College, and the Toronto District School Board. His unique combination of administrative and clinical experience in the healthcare sector allows him to offer a well-rounded and diverse perspective to his students.
Currently, Jason teaches in the Medical Office Administration program at Centennial College while completing his master’s degree in education. He holds a Practical Nursing diploma from George Brown College and a Business Administration diploma from Seneca College.
