Centennial College's Applied Research activity (ARIES) hosted the Southern Ontario Network for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (SONAMI)'s Annual General Meeting at the Downsview Aerospace Hangar on October 14th, 2022. Centennial joined the network in April 2021. The consortium consists of post-secondary academic institutions led by Niagara College that provide innovation and technology support to SMEs and local manufacturers, helping them increase efficiencies and develop competitive and innovative products and services for manufacturers, targeting projects in the energy systems, medical technology, transportation and food processing sectors. Centennial’s established excellence in aerospace research provides an added dimension to SONAMI’s reach in Ontario.
Through SONAMI, Centennial will further its partnerships with small- and medium-sized enterprises to drive innovation in advanced manufacturing in Ontario while expanding opportunities to provide valuable, real-world hands-on internships to students. Through ARIES, Centennial College provides more paid internships in research than any other College in Canada.
The AGM was attended by the network's eight colleges and one university, with Jonathan Hack, Eric Blaise, and Erika Oliveira representing Centennial College.
Centennial is proud to be an active member of the consortium, and looks forward to continue leading applied research projects and initiatives on a growing scale alongside rich partnerships.
