This scholarship has been developed to honour victims of the tragic plane crash of that occurred in Iran during January 2020, where 57 Canadians lost their lives, with 34 victims employed at or studied in universities and colleges in Ontario.

This scholarship has been developed to assist students who have recently undergone a major conflict including: military conflict, government collapse, humanitarian crisis, natural weather disaster and famine. This year, the Ontario-Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship will be given preference to students who have been afflicted by the 2023 Ukraine-Russia military conflict.
