Dear Colleagues,
I have some very sad news to share with you regarding a former member of our Centennial community. Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe, a graduate from our Project Management program, was the tragic victim in a shooting incident at a Vaughan nightclub on the weekend of July 23. Tosin was working as a security guard on the night of the shooting. He had plans to return in September to pursue further studies in our Construction Project Management program.
We are deeply saddened by Tosin’s passing and have reached out to offer our condolences and support to his family in Abuja, Nigeria, who are understandably struggling with this devastating news. Our thoughts are with all who are mourning his passing.
When receiving tragic news regarding students, friends or anyone else, it sometimes can be helpful to have a safe, confidential space to talk. Please remember that your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides you with immediate, professional and confidential help for any work, health or life concerns at no cost to you. Our provider, LifeWorks, provides many helpful online tools, articles and other resources to support your well-being. You can access our EAP 24/7 by phone at 1-844-880-9137, online at https://login.lifeworks.com/ or through their mobile app.
A GoFundMe page has been established to support the families of Tosin and his co-worker Chibueze Momah with the goal of raising $100,000. More than $26,000 has been raised as of this afternoon.
Please keep Tosin’s family and friends in your thoughts. Let’s continue to move forward with compassion and support for each other.
Respectfully,
