While spring may be just around the corner, here’s a reminder to please continue to take extra care during ongoing wintry conditions. Slips and falls are a constant hazard, especially during the present freeze-and-thaw cycle we are experiencing.
Here are some guidelines to help you get through winter safely:
- Give yourself extra time to get where you are going and avoid rushing.
- Dress for the weather: choose proper footwear, preferably with flat, rubber slip-resistant soles.
- Where possible, walk on plowed, sanded, well-lit walkways and avoid shortcuts over snow banks or on unassumed pathways.
- Be extra careful when getting into or out of your vehicle in parking lots; it may be slippery.
- Use handrails on stairs and walk with extra care.
- Be attentive; avoid distractions such as using your phone while walking.
- When entering buildings please wipe your boots/shoes on the floor mats provided.
