At Centennial College, we’re always looking for ways to show what we can do for our students, and figured that the best way was to ask them. That’s why we launched the Get Ready Speaker series, Our first installment is now available to watch on YouTube, and you’ll be able to see more of them in the coming weeks.
Each video showcases the experience of Centennial students and alumni, and how we help them get ready for their careers through interviews with current and graduating students.
But they’re not just about students, they’re made by students, too. Specifically, a team of recently graduated videographers from our Story Arts Centre produced, filmed and edited the videos as a way to get real-world experience under their belts, and help launch their careers. Director/Producer Andrew Park explains.
“After graduating from Broadcasting: Film, Television, Digital Media and Radio, I started a media production company called ‘A Park Production.’ In this position, I produce, direct and shoot videos, documentaries and films for various companies,” he says.” “Once I graduated, I was quickly recommended to work as a freelance video producer by Centennial faculty. I heard about this project through my program coordinator, Karen Shopsowitz. She was asked for two talented graduates that were successful in the program to work on an upcoming media campaign.”
“Working on this project allowed me to build my resume and portfolio, which has helped me land more clients and expand my company,” Andrew continues. “It helped me understand my worth as a producer in the media industry and build my confidence. When people walk away from these videos, I want them to see how well Centennial College takes care of its students and graduates, as well as how it prepares them for the real world. I had initially come to Centennial College for its hands-on experience, but this project showed me how practical my education truly was.”
By telling the story of Centennial College through authentic stories and experiences by graduates and current students, you’ll get to see just what a Centennial education gets you. Look for new entries in the Get Ready Speaker Series regularly, as we examine all the different sides of modern, practical post-secondary learning.
