Centennial College’s Police and Public Safety Foundations students made a strong impression at the first annual York Regional Police Service Police Foundations Program Fitness and Academic Games, bringing home multiple first prizes for their skills. Taking place on October 16, the Fitness and Academic Games were held for colleges across the Greater Toronto Area and Golden Horseshoe, and brought Police Foundations students together to test their physical fitness and academic skills. Centennial’s students were standout competitors, showcasing the strength of both their training and teamwork.
Centennial’s male Police and Public Safety Foundations students earned top honors in the fitness competition, including first-place finishes in both the beep test and push-up challenge. While the college’s female athletes did not place in the top three, they delivered impressive performances and represented Centennial with dedication and pride.
Our Police Foundations students secured another first place as well: The games also featured an academic component, where participants tackled a simulated police investigative scenario. Competitors conducted a detailed investigation, and completed a full police occurrence report, mirroring the real-world policing procedures taught in Centennial College’s Police Foundations program. Centennial’s female student representative earned first place overall in this academic challenge, demonstrating the program’s strong emphasis on analytical and investigative skills.
These results reflect the hands-on learning that takes place in our Police and Public Safety Foundations program, as our students continue to show that they are prepared for future success, wherever their education takes them. In fact, you can read our recent profile of Police Foundations graduate Skye Pinto, to learn more about the different directions you can go after graduating from the program.
Centennial College congratulates all the students and faculty involved for their outstanding performance, and for proudly representing the college.
