David Ip Yam

Associate Vice-President, Dean of Students, Centennial College

David Ip Yam is an educator and facilitator in the areas of leadership development, relationships and well-being, and higher education student success. At Centennial College, he serves as the Dean of Students where he strives to co-create conditions with/for learners to thrive through transformative programs and services. Before joining Centennial, David’s career in student affairs was shaped by various roles within leadership development, international services, orientation and student life, conduct and case management, health & wellness, and career education and development at York University. While at York U he earned a BA, MEd, and certificates in dispute resolution and change intelligence leadership and was a Course Director. In the community, he enjoys advising youth-run organizations, empowering couples to thrive through RelationshipZen.ca, and teaching martial arts through MindOverMatterKarate.com. David is also the host of the Student Success Exchange podcast; a series of deep conversations about real student stories between David and the students he served.
