The Dual Credit program provides Secondary School students with the opportunity to earn college credits at Centennial still in high school. Credits earned in the Dual Credit program count as both a College Credit that may be applied toward a College diploma or certificate, and a secondary school credit that will count toward completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Students taking Dual Credit courses at Centennial College, are treated as College students, and receive a Centennial College student number and Student card providing access to all Centennial College resources on campus and electronically, including a myCentennial email address, access to the eCentennial Learning Management system, Centennial Libraries and Learning Centres and the Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services.
There are many benefits to choosing dual credit courses:
- Exposure to the different programs and career pathways that Centennial College has to offer.
- Experiencing post-secondary education in preparation for full-time college or university studies post-graduation
- Access to courses not normally offered at a student’s secondary school
- An opportunity to catch up on credits in order to graduate
- Complementing Co-op placements with related College courses
- A change to a more mature and independent learning environment
- Students returning to Centennial College for full-time post-secondary studies can apply as internal candidates without paying fees to the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS)
- Students returning to Centennial College after high school graduation are eligible for one of five $1,000 Dual Credit Bursaries to help pay for their studies. To find out more information, check out Centennial College Bursaries.
