| Description | This course will focus on the fundamentals of copy editing - consistency, correctness, conciseness, clarity. Students will gain experience editing on hard copy and on-screen, and learn to identify and correct common problems in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax, as well as stylistic choices such as reducing wordiness, editing to length, avoiding bias, adjusting language level, and improving sentence variety. Students will have the opportunity to peer-edit as well as edit their own work. |
