Description

This course is designed to develop graduates’ skills with securing, controlling, lifting and placement of heavy equipment components and machinery as they carry out their duties in the field. The objective of this instruction is the safe and efficient use of rigging, materials and hoisting equipment. Course content will include topics such as industrial hand signals, estimating weights, determining center of gravity, impact loading, fiber and synthetic ropes and knots, wire rope, hooks, shackles and slings. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to identify unsafe/faulty hoisting and rigging devices following manufacturers’ recommended practices and government regulations.
