Description | The Acts, Regulations and Procedures section will provide the student with both theory and practical training. Course provides the student with the ability to identify regulations as applicable to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and pertinent Codes, Acts, Regulations and Legislation. In addition, the curriculum ensures that the apprentice is able to identify personal protective equipment, safe working conditions, procedures for handling hazardous or toxic materials, fire safety procedures, the reporting of injuries, demonstration for prevention of personal injuries, procedures for lockout and tagging, operating material handling equipment (rigging and hoisting), procedures for the use of personnel lift equipment. Furthermore, the curriculum highlights procedures for handling refrigerants and ODP requirements, procedures for the containment of refrigerants and to ensure safe work procedures when using hand or power tools. The student will also acquire skill necessary to complete work orders, purchase orders, sales orders and customer quotes. |
