Description

This course provides students with an in-depth exploration and analysis of the social construction of stigma relating to people with addiction and mental health issues. Students will address the causes, consequences and impacts of stigma at micro, meso and macro levels (including a global perspective on stigma), as well as multiple solutions to combat stigma. Students will have the opportunity for hands-on application of knowledge and skills by creating an anti-stigma initiative using an Anti-Oppressive Practice (AOP) lens and community outreach and engagement approaches.
