Description | Building on the Applied Safety Fundamentals 1 course students will be introduced to hazards associated with automated systems, equipment and processes, elevated work, hoisting and conveying equipment, mobile equipment and vehicles. They will apply hazard recognition and assessment techniques to recommend appropriate controls to mitigate the harm caused by these hazards in the workplace. Students will learn about the hazards of electricity and the basics of electrical safety to apply relevant controls. Students will also learn how to conduct risk assessments and safety inspections. They will apply the Canadian Standards Association CSA Z1000-14, Plan-Do-Check-Act model to monitor and measure, and to evaluate existing safety measures for continual improvement. Finally, students will learn about the basics of conducting accident investigations to write a report. |
