| Description | This course has been designed to develop critical reading skills necessary for both academic and professional success. Through a variety of readings, in class activities, group discussions and written assignments, students will develop and enhance their ability to engage critically with texts from across the disciplines. Specifically, this course will be geared towards providing students with the tools and techniques to comprehend summarize and respond to material in a range of formats. Emphasis will be placed on practicing essential skills associated with the critical reading process including: annotating, paraphrasing, summarizing, evaluating and responding.
