| Description | This course introduces students to software architecture and design with an emphasis on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) components. Students will apply design principles such as modularity, abstraction, separation of concerns, and reusability, while also exploring AI-specific system architectures, including AI pipelines, intelligent agents, and retrieval-augmented generation patterns (e.g., RAG). Topics include system modelling, interface design, component decomposition, ethical design considerations, and software design documentation. Using current AI frameworks, students will design and prototype selected components of intelligent systems. The course prepares students to participate in system-level design efforts and lays the foundation for more advanced AI application development in later semesters. |
