Description

This course will discuss how data generated by the Internet of Things (IoT) differs from conventional data in volume, variety, velocity, and veracity. Discussion will also include new methods of collecting, storing, and analyzing “big data” that is required to fully benefit from what the IoT can offer. This course examines the concept of “big data” and how it is managed and used in the IoT. Students will communicate and collaborate with team members and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment to explore the opportunities provided by “big data” and the related ethical, social, legal, regulatory and economic requirements of its collection and use.
