The first part of two-semester biomedical engineering capstone project course requires the students to apply their accumulated knowledge, experience and expertise in biomedical engineering technology to research and develop a practical, open-ended design project in biomedical engineering.

This course provides the students with a fundamental knowledge of Project Management as outlined in PMBOK® by the Project Management Institute. It focuses mainly on six of the ten knowledge areas: Scope management, Risk management, Cost management, Scheduling, Quality Management and the Evaluation and Control of a project. Topics covered will include project goals & scope, project time & budget planning, project risk management, as well as quality control and statistical process control. Within the area of Quality, the student is introduced to Control Charts and their application to Process Control within the Electronics Industry.
