| Description | This course is designed to develop basic academic reading skills. A variety of reading skills are covered to improve overall comprehension of texts such as finding topics, main ideas and details, previewing texts, and making inferences. Strategies to develop and increase vocabulary knowledge are practiced with on-line and in-class activities. This course also promotes skills necessary for college study, such as participating in pair or group activities, locating academic information, and requiring students to demonstrate their responsibilities for academic success. |
