Description | This is the second of two courses addressing the design and integration of various Building Systems. Building Systems form an integral part the building design and documentation process; Building Systems incorporate Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines. The integration of these systems and the collaboration of these disciplines is paramount to the successful completion of a project. The building type focus will be on medium and high rise buildings (more than 3 stories). The building systems will include: i) Envelope (thermal, air and acoustics); ii) Structural (steel and concrete); iii) Mechanical (HVAC and plumbing); iv) Electrical (light and power); v) Emergency (life safety and fire control); and Transport (vertical and horizontal movement). This course will introduce the student to the above topics in a step by step approach, layering upon information, to impart a comprehensive understanding of Building Systems. |
