Canadian Multicultural Literature

Course Code ENGL-235
Lecture hours per week 3
Lab hours per week
Course Availability: Open
Description: The focus of this course is the diversity in experience and expression that exists among Canada’s multicultural voices. Several prominent themes emerge from the survey of literature explored: the presence of racism in Canada, both historical and current; many immigrants’ inner conflict between a desire to integrate and a desire to remain culturally distinct; and finally, as Smaro Kamboureli puts it, “there still remains the fundamental question of what constitutes Canadian identity.”
