Description | Canadian Studies is a study of contemporary Canada which explores the themes of nation, regional diversity, French-English relations, and international relations. In the context of theses themes, Canadian geography, history, peoples, social and political institutions, and national and international relationships will be examined. You will learn about, reflect upon, and discuss Canadian issues, their roots, their meaning today, and their influence on our future. Throughout the course, you will find that the topics take you through an exploration of the challenges that we face as Canadians (How are we going to govern ourselves? How are we going to survive beside the U.S.? How are we going to resolve the English/French duality? How are we going to resolve native issues? How are we going to deal with the changing face of Canada? How are we going to fit into the world of the 21st century?) |
