| Description | In this course students will learn a variety of topics on product chemistry and advanced ingredient technology. Students will learn the basic concepts of chemistry to better understand product formulations and client health. A historical and cross-cultural review of cosmetic preparations will be explored to better understand current skincare practices and trends. The concepts of synthetic versus natural cosmetics and commercial versus professional products are also explored. Particular attention will be paid to the function and purpose of specific ingredients, pharmacology, the immune system, medical conditions, cosmetic regulations as well as product safety and advertising. |
