The Child at the Center of the Curriculum acknowledges the value of play as the foundation of all experiences in the early years. It recognizes that the construction of curriculum must “emerge” from the child’s interests and needs if it is to be meaningful. The Early Childhood Educator constructs and implements experiences that are responsive and enhance the development of the whole child.
Principles of program planning will be introduced and discussed and opportunities for application made available in this course. Using Emergent Curriculum principles student will have the opportunity to construct, implement and document a variety of experiences which enhance children’s learning in a range of curriculum content areas.  All planned experiences will integrate principles of collaboration and recognize the value of inquiry.

Minimum C grade. Pre-requisites: Semester 1 ECEP courses.
