| Description | This course introduces Pharmacy Technician students to the concept of computerized prescription order entry. Integrating pharmacy concepts learned in math and dispensing classes, students will learn how to interpret, enter and process various types of prescriptions using appropriate references and pharmacy dispensing software systems. Data entry and prescription processing for both third party and cash paying customers will be performed. Students will have the opportunity to practice the transferring of prescriptions through scenario type exercises. Keyboarding skills will be practiced through a series of lessons and speed drills. Opportunities will be provided for the development of data input proficiency through weekly in-class activities, practice prescriptions and take home assignments. |
