Description | This course will place the student in a community pharmacy (40hrs) in order to gain practical experience applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the preceding academic semester. The student will be exposed to a variety of activities in a pharmacy that involves the provision of care and service to the consumer / patient. Activities will include, the computer system, dispensing, multi-tasking, trouble-shooting, patient profiles, customer service, cash handling, front-shop layout / merchandising, loss prevention methods & schedule III policies, as well as an introduction to drug ordering systems, third party billing and on-line adjudication. Hands-on service learning will enable the student to better understand the future customers that they will be serving as a member of the community pharmacy health care team. Field Placement: 3/wk |
