| Description | In this course, students will compare and contrast the geopolitical stability, foreign investment climate, human resources considerations, cultural dynamics and trade competitiveness of selected regions: Asia. Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean and Europe, in order to assess their suitability for multilateral investment and corporate strategic expansion. Students will learn how domestic political and socio-economic developments are situated within larger recent macro developments in international business. These include globalization, the increase of trans-national governance reflected in bilateral, super-continental regional free trade agreements (FTAs) and new forms of strategic alliances and networks, and the economic impacts of global events. Ultimately, students will recognize that ‘context matters’ in international business; each regional business market operates within its own specific political and cultural framework which requires careful study and analysis. |
