Description
Die Design is a 4th semester course in the Metal Machining Program. This theory and hands-on lab course expands the design concepts taught in Jig & Fixture Design (MT240), to the complex field of ‘Die Design’. Using a C.A.D. environment, the student will develop ‘part drawings’ (simple stampings) and produce General Assembly Drawings of their particular design. Development of the ‘part drawing’ will incorporate all of the necessary components of Die Design, with respect to, ‘Pierce & Blank and Progressive’ dies. Emphasis will be on, material selection, strip layout, punch design, die block, stripper plate and ‘die calculations.
