Description | This course introduces the student to the fundamental mathematical structures that form the basis of computer systems and databases. It begins with the concepts of sets, relations and functions and relational algebras. It proceeds to explore the structures of the real numbers and the integers and the differences between them. Matrices are also introduced as an example of a set with an algebraic structure and matrix algorithms are used to solve systems of linear equations. The course concludes with a section on graph theory. |
