Tourism is a diverse and exciting industry that makes up a significant part of the Canadian and global economy. This course will investigate tourism as a career and a lifestyle that is becoming increasingly more important for younger generations. Students will examine its role as an agent of change in the mixing of varying world cultures. This course will consider the impact of tourism on the environments, cultures and economies of selected destinations. Careers in the tourist industry will be discussed, as will ethics for responsible development and care of natural and cultural destinations. This course encourages an enthusiasm to explore the world.
