In this course, students will gain a solid working knowledge of Houdini's 3D visual effects toolset. They will explore procedural modeling and various complexities of dynamics effects including particles, RBD and pyro. These tools can create procedural effects such as electricity and geometry shattering. Students will learn how to simulate real-life physics such as dust, rain, snow, smoke and fire. They will also learn how to transfer import / export geometry to be used in external 3d software packages. Lastly, students will use Mantra to render volumetric effects such as smoke and fire.
This course will also be part of the semester 3 capstone project.
