Description

This course examines local, national, international and global dimensions of the relationship between education and development, as well as its practical implications for education policy and program planning. Using comparative and international research and evidence, the course develops insights into the key links between education and political, economic, social and cultural development and change, and their manifestation in areas such as gender, health, literacy, equality, equity, inclusion, and sustainability. Students participate in discussions on the forces and institutions that shape education systems and processes globally, and the associated nature, structure, practice and experience with formal and non-formal education for children and adults. Course topics and issues are explored from a range of theoretical and practical perspectives.
