Electrical Aspects of Network Cabling

Description
In this course student will learn network related standards, the fundamental principles of AC electricity as it pertains to signal fundamentals and the electrical properties of network cables. Students will review a coax cable’s equivalent LRC circuit and be introduced to the engineering parameter underlying voice and data cable design. Students will be introduced to a signal’s propagation effects, such as attenuation, distortion, noise and amplifier gain. Students will use a digital oscilloscope and digital multimeter to measure various waveforms and pulses, within RC, RL, RLC circuits.
