This theory and lab course is an introduction to the fundamental concepts and applications of Electronics and Instrumentation.
The Electronic part of the course introduces the student to Semiconductor Devices such as Rectifier and Zener Diodes, LED’s, BJT’s, Logic gates and their behaviour in various circuit configurations. In the lab, students will gain practical experience in building, testing and troubleshooting basic electrical circuits utilizing Resistors and Semiconductor Devices.
Additionally, the Instrumentation part of the course will introduce the student to common terminology used in instrumentation systems, describe Pressure and Temperature control systems including operation and application of Pressure measuring devices, RTD’s and Thermocouples. In the lab, students will gain practical experience testing Pressure, RTD’s and Thermocouples.
