Description | An important aspect of modern electronic technology is embedded systems based on microcontrollers. This course explores the architecture and main elements of the RISC–type embedded microcontrollers. Students will discover how to use development tools such as cross-compilers, debuggers, simulators and hardware programmers. The emphasis will be on how to program and interface embedded microcontrollers to perform useful operations involving timers and Interrupts. PIC microcontrollers will be utilized in the lab component to explore connectivity via wired and wireless interface, as well as power concerns in applications. In the final unit, students will investigate emerging embedded computing technology, identify embedded OS's, and embedded computing platforms along with their industry application areas. |
