Description | In this course students will learn about the fundamental concepts and processes of emergency preparedness and response. The course focuses mainly on the workplace level rather than on larger community-wide occurrences. A principle focus of the course is the mitigation of the adverse consequences of emergencies through effective emergency planning and response. Students will learn about the main features of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, the regulatory framework governing emergency management. Students will learn about naturally occurring, technological, and human caused emergencies. Students will apply a crisis management model to develop an emergency management plan. Applying the model, they will identify potential emergency situations and develop appropriate responses to each emergency. They will develop short-term and long-term recovery goals after an emergency occurs. |
