Description | Sustainable development addresses the innermost problems facing us in the twenty-first century, which concern equitable access to human basic needs, but in a cleaner and more efficient manner. On the demand-side while energy exploration, efficient energy usage and energy consumption plays an important role in energy sector, energy efficiency policies were found to be one of the predominant factor in achieving the goal of optimizing those factors. This course explores policy and planning for acquiring sustainable development. It critically examines concept of sustainability as a process of social, organizational, and political development drawing on cases from continents of the word. It also explores pathways to sustainability through debates on ecological modernization; sustainable technology development, international and intergenerational fairness, and democratic governance. |
