Description

This course is designed to give a fundamental back ground of a heavy duty diesel engine. Students will be taught the different components of the diesel engine and how the diesel engine works to covert heat energy into mechanical energy; they will develop an understanding of the principles and purpose of each component. They will discuss the different moving components in the engine and how linear force from the piston is converted to the needed rotating motion that moves the vehicle. Students will develop an understanding of the maintenance procedures of a diesel engine and the reason why proper service procedures are vital for the engine’s life.
