| Description | This semester-long Enhanced Academic Skills High-Intermediate course, divided into two seven-week parts (Part A: Weeks 1-7 and Part B: Weeks 8-14), provides the foundational academic and digital literacy skills essential for success in a college environment. Through a combination of in-person instruction and independent asynchronous learning, this course directly supports the project-based work in students' other Level 5 courses. In Part A (Society and Health), students will build critical research skills by learning to effectively paraphrase, summarize and cite sources, culminating in the creation of an Annotated Research Portfolio. In Part B (Learning and Creativity), students will focus on visual and professional communication by designing a data-driven infographic and drafting a formal email to share their findings. Across both parts, particular attention is paid to expanding academic vocabulary, applying academic success strategies and the ethical use of AI tools. Through targeted workshops and independent challenges, students will develop the practical skills needed to manage their learning effectively. |
