Description | This course introduces fundamental moral philosophies and theoretical ethical frameworks in order to examine ethics in the aviation workplace; consequentialism, utilitarianism and deontological reasoning. The concepts of rights-based reasoning and virtue ethics are introduced. General topics in aviation include ethical decision-making and assessing risk, governance and accountability in international aviation, ethical challenges in the business of aviation, challenges with outsourcing maintenance, whistleblowing, the AME's responsibilities and the ACI AMT Model Code of Conduct, regulatory capture and self-regulation, and ethical issues pertaining to technology/surveillance, aviation medicine and the environment. Note: ATAT601 Ethical Behaviour In The Workplace is a non-accreditation course. Minimum 60% is required for course credit. |
