FEA Applications

Course CodeMT-300
Lecture hours per week2
Lab hours per week1
Course AvailabilityOpen
Description

This course is developed to expose the students to some of the fundamental concepts of finite elements, and therefore the material is only introductory in nature. The FE method is a numerical technique suited to digital computers. in which a structural part is divided into small but finite elements. These elements are then superimposed onto a coordinate grid system. Next, using matrices, the position and elastic properties of the element are defined so that the displacement can be related to the forces on the element. Finally, a composite matrix of the system of every element of the structure is formed which relates the displacements of the nodal points of each element to the external forces on the structure.
