Film Art In Action

Course CodeGNED-177
Lecture hours per week
Lab hours per week
Course AvailabilityOpen
Description

This course explores film from its earliest days until now. It uncovers the techniques that go into making a film. As a result, students will make their own short films using easily available technology. As well, a range of films will be viewed to develop the analytical skills needed to decode the film image: what is the filmmaker trying to get the audience to think or do? How is he or she using film to cause the audience to react in certain ways? The course will view films that come from the history of world cinema in order to see how film portrays global cultures. We will also view recent films in order to examine personal responses to media today.
