Description | This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fire safety in the workplace. Through the course students will learn about fire cause and fire behaviour, as well as the principles of fire protection and suppression. They will become familiar with the regulations and codes that govern fire safety and will gain knowledge of the roles and functions of standard-setting bodies. The course will also provide students with practical skills related to developing and implementing a fire safety plan. By the end of the course, students should be able to identify potential fire hazards in the workplace, understand the basic chemistry and behaviour of fires, and develop effective fire prevention strategies. They will also gain knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, and codes that pertain to fire safety, and will be able to apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios. This course is aligned with the National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA) 1001 Firefighter I and II standards, and is intended to provide students with a solid foundation in fire safety that can be applied in a variety of workplace settings. |
