Description

An introductory course in fluid mechanics. The emphasis is on the fundamentals of fluid statics and fluid motion, with applications in a variety of engineering fields. Topics include the properties of fluids; manometers and other pressure-measuring devices; pressure distributions; hydrostatic forces on submerged surfaces; buoyancy and stability; the laws of conservation of mass and momentum; Bernoulli’s equation for incompressible flow; the energy equation; and elementary pipe flow problems, including pumps and minor losses.
