Description | This course provides the learner with an overview of the role that networked technologies and information systems play in business interaction in the early 21st Century. The structure and internal functions of business will be introduced, followed by an examination of the development of business systems such as enterprise resource planning systems, customer relationship management systems, supply chain management systems, and the role these systems play in supporting business functions. Security, legal and privacy issues, as well as payment issues, will be introduced. These concepts will be applied through assessment of team-driven case studies in-class and the written analysis of a business case for a real-life company marketing a product or service. Course content will be delivered using assigned readings from the texts, from current periodicals and journals, case methodology and discussion, class notes in 'PowerPoint', and review of relevant web sites. |
