Fundamentals of Interviewing and Counselling

Description

Students will explore counseling approaches including problem-solving, task-centered casework, and crisis intervention methods. Communication and interviewing skills introduced in the first semester will be explored in greater depth. Students will examine and demonstrate the assessment process and the skills needed to establish appropriate goals for counseling. Familiarization with many agencies serving the community and the role of the social service worker in such agencies will be a focus.
