Description | This course prepares students for academic and professional success as a Social Service Worker. In the first part of the course, students will explore the resources available in the college to support their success as a student in a post-secondary environment. Students will define their personal learning styles and develop a student success plan. This course will also teach research and digital literacy skills, required for student and professional success. Students will also gain knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of the program through reading and discussing the Social Service Worker Student Handbook and Field Placement Manual. In the second half of the course, students will learn about the professional competencies required for Field Placement and to work as a Social Service Worker. Course Learning Outcomes:
